RSVP Military Care Packages
The Perry County Retired Senior Volunteer Program sends military care packages four times a year to our overseas military.
We send these care packages for Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If you would like to donate, please choose from the list below. You may drop donations off at the RSVP office located at 121 W. Brown St., New Lexington, OH. In addition, you are invited to help package the donations. Please call Ruth at (740) 342-7220 dates, time, and location.
What to send in a military care package:
Personal Care
Toiletries - toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, cotton swabs, disposable razors, travel size shampoo, individual packaged tissues.
Personal care - individually packed unscented baby wipes, eye drops, lip balm, unscented lotion, aspirin or other pain reliever, feminine hygiene products.
Foot care - Moleskin, medicated foot powder, athlete's foot ointment.
During winter months - disposable hand warmers, long underwear, fingerless gloves.
Goggle style sunglasses - your service member will appreciate these if he or she is deployed in the desert.
Entertainment and Communication
Reading material - paperback books, current magazines, comic books.
Word games and puzzles - crossword puzzles, word searches, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, frisbees, yo-yos.
Electronics - portable DVD/CD player, handheld electronic games.
Batteries - size AA and D batteries.
Writing material - notepaper, envelopes, pens, pencils, stamps.
Reminders of Home
In every package, be sure to include:
- A personal note or special reminder of home.
- Your children's art projects or schoolwork.
- Homemade goodies in an airtight container.
- The Sunday comics from the local newspaper.
