Water Bill Assistance at HAPCAP | February 8, 2023
GLOUSTER –Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) will continue to provide low-income eligible residents of Hocking, Athens and Perry Counties with water and wastewater. Bill payment assistance is made possible through the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP), which is administered by the Ohio Department of Development and made possible through the American Rescue Plan.

The Reading Township Fire Department was established in 1887. The current facility was built around 1968 with an expansion added around 2000. The Reading Township Fire Department has outgrown their existing facilities. They have gone from 60-70 runs per year to 334 in 2022. There are currently 42 outstanding volunteer firefighters.

The Perry County Municipal Court Community Service Program offers a way for people convicted of a misdemeanor to make reparations to the community. The Community Service Program works with County, Township, Village, and non-profit organizations within Perry County. People convicted of a misdemeanor may be fined, required to do Community Service, or a combination of both. Required Community Service hours typically range from 20 to 80 hours per conviction.

Perry County Children Services Brings School Outreach Program to Elementary Schools Across County | March 6, 2023
New Lexington, OH – Perry County Children Services recently launched their new School Outreach program at New Lexington Elementary, with plans to have the program operating with caseworkers in four elementary schools across the county in the 2023-2024 school year. The School Outreach Program is a local-levy-funded, short-term intervention program designed to help children and families by breaking barriers that hinder a child's overall potential and success through preventative services and supports.
