I am amazed every year the support this community gives to the livestock sale. Crops are looking good overall and to date we have not seen much insect or disease pressure.

(Oct. 26, 2021) – With Thanksgiving and the holidays approaching, the American Red Cross urges donors to continue to make and keep appointments now and in the weeks ahead to help overcome the ongoing emergency blood shortage that has significantly impacted the nation’s blood supply. In fact, the current blood supply is the lowest the Red Cross has seen this time of year in more than a decade.

Deadline Approaching for Expanded Child Tax Credit Application | November 15, 2021
(GLOUSTER, OH) – The deadline is fast-approaching for families seeking to access the Expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC). The American Rescue Plan, which passed in March, temporarily increased the CTC to provide monthly payments to families with children ($250 for children under age 6 and $300 for children ages 6-17). Nearly all families with children are eligible. The deadline to apply for 2021 is November 15th. Individuals can complete a simplified tax return at GetCTC.org in order to receive their payments.

Southeast Ohio Foodbank Hosting Weekly On-site Food Distributions | October, November, December 2021
LOGAN, OH –The Southeast Ohio Foodbank, a program of Hocking Athens Perry Community Action, is hosting an on-site food distribution for income-eligible residents of its 10 county service area. Starting on October 13th, the first four weeks of the distributions will be held on Wednesdays. After November 3, the distributions will be held every Tuesday through the end of the year. Those interested in receiving food can stop in from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Emergency blood and platelet shortage: Red Cross supplies drop to lowest post-summer levels since 2015
(Sept. 27, 2021) — The American Red Cross is experiencing an emergency blood and platelet shortage and must collect 10,000 additional blood products each week over the next month for the blood supply to recover and meet hospital and patient needs. Donors of all blood types – especially type O – and platelet donors are urged to make an appointment to give now and in the weeks ahead to overcome this current shortage.

(New Lexington, OH) – On October 6th from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) will be hosting a food distribution at the Perry County Fairgrounds. Food items will be given to families who are residents of Perry County and within 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Food items will be sourced and distributed by the Southeast Ohio Foodbank, a HAPCAP program.
